Terms used to describe and define any human condition can be deeplyimpactful. While the term neurodiversity is a great advancement, it lacks a relevant specificity. The term is most often used as alternative term for autism in order to move beyond that descriptor's limitations, but can also encompass ADHD and dyslexia.
At different times and under different situations the same person can be classified in different ways. There is a fluidity in the manifestations of the human behaviors referenced by these terms that is influenced by the environment.
Individuals with neuro-social diversity are a rich part of our human culture. It is irrefutable that individuals with NSD impact our world in profound and meaningful ways - in the past, present, and into the future. It is not helpful or accurate to use the term disorder for this condition. Accommodation might be necessary or optimal but that fact is not the definition of disability. A basic understanding of neuro differences among a broader cross-section of our world is the first and most essential accommodation.
